 New patients
We believe that it is important to get to know you and establish a good working relationship. Your 1st visit is designed to give us a complete understanding of your needs. We would therefore ask you to download and complete the Medical History and Smile Checklist questionnaires. You will be welcomed by one of our front desk team, Jan, Sue or Dolly who will go through the questionnaires with you. If you are unable to complete the forms before your appointment date, just arrive 10 minutes early and we will be happy to go through them on the day. Please remember to bring in a list of any medication that you are taking.
You will then be asked to take a seat in our patient lounge where we always have the latest magazines and newspapers to read. Your dentist will then come out and introduce himself. You will then be invited to go through to our modern treatment rooms to have an informal chat about your dental needs and to discuss the forms that have been completed.
The dentist will then complete a thorough examination during which he will check the teeth, gums, and check the jaw joints. An oral cancer screen will be completed by checking and feeling the soft tissues inside & outside the mouth. Low dose digital x-rays will then be taken together with photographs as appropriate. Intra oral cameras will be used to take you on a tour of your mouth & to highlight any features for discussion.
The dentist will then clearly explain any findings and give recommendations for treatment. All options will be discussed to allow you to make an appropriate informed choice. We will provide you with a clear detailed treatment plan and estimate. You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have,
In more complex cases you may be asked to return later for a free review appointment with the dentist once he has had a chance to decide on the best treatments.
The initial consultation normally takes 40 minutes to complete.
You will then be returned to the front desk team who will be happy to answer any further questions and to schedule appointments .
