What is Tooth Whitening?
We have been whitening teeth at Clover House for many years now with great success. If you give your smile some style you instantly feel better about yourself – and the best thing is how easy it is!
The whitening process lightens discoloured teeth quickly, safely and effectively.
Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dentist is safe.
We consider it to be an ideal cosmetic procedure as it does not require any preparation or reduction of the teeth.
The only side-effect reported is temporary mild sensitivity, which always fades after the procedure.
How is it done?
We use the Zoom! Professional whitening system. There are two techniques

1. Whitening in our Practice
This takes about an hour and is very easy to have done. We apply the whitening gel to the teeth and then activate it with the Zoom! light to increase the breakdown of stains within the teeth. We include a take home system to enable maintenance and further whitening if required.
2. Whitening at home
This method uses the same type of gel but in a less concentrated form. It is applied in very carefully made “trays” that fit exactly over the teeth so the gel is held precisely where it is needed.
The best way to wear the trays is overnight, on successive nights. Usually the teeth have whitened as much as they are going to after 10-14 nights. It is possible to go further, but the change will be most noticeable over the first week or so.
3. How do I keep my White smile?
After each of the two methods we recommend you keep the trays we have made for you. This is so that you can freshen up your whitening if you choose to in future. Most people find this is unnecessary, but it does mean you will always be able to maintain the effect of the whitening without having to have it done all over again.
