Article UK Clear step
Clear step are a brand new system for straightening crooked teeth and closing the gaps between teeth. In many cases, Clear Step can get rid of the traditional needed metal-wire braces that have long been used in orthodontic practice. This system utilises the latest computerised technology and three dimensional modelling to generate a series of clear, see through aligners, or also known as clear or invisible braces. These clear aligners are specially fabricated to fit your teeth and over time they will move your teeth into the correct position that gives you a natural looking straight smile.
What is Clear Step?
Invisalign is a series of clear aligners that are custom moulded to fit your teeth and they look like a transparent gum shield. These aligners are then changed every 2 weeks and gradually reposition your teeth into the position you want them. Treatment times vary from case to case, but the typical time for most cases are from 6 months to a year.
How does the Clear Step system work?
* You will wear your aligners for roughly 22 hours a day.
* You should remove your aligners to eat and to brush your teeth.
* Your teeth will move slowly over time.
* You change your aligners approximately every two weeks.
* You will have regular progress checks with your dentist or your orthodontist.
* The Full treatment takes from six months to a year (sometimes it can last 18 months)
Why is Clear Step better then metal braces?
Comfort- Metal braces are usually more painful and cause irritation and inflammation of the gums and soft tissue. The elastic bands that are used to tightening the braces often cause discomfort. Although there may be slight discomfort when you start wearing the ClearStep aligners, in general cases, most users find them very comfortable.
Convenience- this is the greatest advantage over the traditional wire braces. Removing the aligners when you eat will avoid the problem of food getting trapped between wires and elastic bands. Invisalign also makes maintaining good oral hygiene much easier. As with wire braces, cleaning your teeth is much more difficult, especially flossing between your teeth, the difficulty of flossing with metal braces means that most people forget this part of their cleaning routine and this can cause problems like bad breath, gum disease and tooth decay.
Discreet- the ClearStep aligners are virtually impossible to anyone unless they are very close to you, so very few people will notice that you are wearing these and having treatment. This is one of the main reasons that has encouraged thousands of adults to use this system as it will not cause any disruption in their lifestyle.
Free consultation- The majority of dentists and orthodontists will offer a free initial consultation so that they can assess your problem and discuss the treatment with you and to give you an idea of the estimated costs and treatment time.
Can Clear Step be used for all orthodontic cases?
The Clear Step system can be used for the majority of crooked teeth problems, including overbites, underbites, crowding, cross-bites and gaps between teeth. However in some very severe orthodontic cases where teeth extraction may be required, or there is a lot of movement needed, Clear Step may not be appropriate. During the free consultation, your dentist will be able to tell you if you are suitable for Invisalign. In the very severe cases, traditional wire braces, friction free Damon braces or lingual braces may be needed to correct your tooth alignment.
What is the procedure?
1. After the initial consultation and assessment of your smile and your teeth alignment, your Clear Step dentist will take an impression (mould) of your teeth using a special 'dental putty' and take several photographs of your teeth and smile from different angles.
2. After a 3D digital model of your teeth is created from the dental putty using a CT scanner.
3. Using the latest in patented software, the model is used as a basis to generate a simulation of your teeth movement from their current position to the final desired position.
4. This simulation is then used as the basis to design your aligners, which are custom-made for your teeth and will be changed every two weeks as your teeth move.
5. Your new aligners will then be sent back to your dentist, along with the created 3D simulation, so that you can see for yourself the expected movement of your teeth over time.
6. Following on from this, you dentist will give you strict instructions on how to use the aligners. They must be worn at a minimum of 20 hours a day as the success of the treatment is highly dependent on your compliance as a patient and this requires dedication.
7. You will have regular checkups at your local dentist to ensure that your treatment is going at initially planned.
How much does Clear Step cost?
Depending on how severe the case is and where you go for treatment, and the skill of your dentist or orthodontist. In your free consultation you should be given an accurate indication of likely costs for your particular case. Treatment costs are on average between £3,000 to £6,000+
